Happy days are here…..
It was just a fantastic day today!!
Kate and I went out for a bike ride again. We were very anxious to find a way out of Yulin as quickly as possible, without having to go through town for all the obvious reasons: pollution, crazy traffic, noise, etc. As adventurous as we are we decided to head out South, straight from our homes, and boy were we lucky! After some tough excercise going uphill, we were kind of in the middle of nowhere within 15 to 20 minutes. There were ‘roads’…going in all different directions, so it was even hard to choose WHERE to go. We made the right decision after all, as we saw water….a lot of it….at a certain point. But before we got there, we passed some hundred or more graves as we were probably riding our bikes through what we would call ‘a graveyard’, we climbed mountains both on foot as well as on our bikes, we rode down very sandy hills, we got great excercise! Luckily we were rewarded as we finally got to the water, where we stopped, sat in the sand, drank some water, had some food and ofcourse took many, many pictures and just enjoyed the surroundings. It was great being out there and knowing that this area is quite close to our homes, so we can go there more often. Perhaps in winter when the resevoir/lake is frozen over or next summer to go swimming (I’ll check with some people first to make sure the water isn’t polluted…don’t worry!), or just to sit there, read a book and relax. There’s also a path going round the lake that ends up at the civilised part of it, near Yulin. People were walking along the shore, children were playing in the sand, some people were boating, it just seems to be a great place to hang out!
So, we got our excercise, we now know how to get out of Yulin really fast, we know there are many more roads and paths to discover and we found a relaxing place on the waterside! Like the header says:”Happy days are here again!”
Hope all of you out there also had a great day!
